Process RD French PM kicks off Nano2017

The French Prime Minister attended the opening of the “Nano2017” R&D programme at Crolles earlier this week, following in the footsteps of former French President Jacques Chirac who opened Crolles’ Fab 2.

Nano2017 is a five-year public-private strategic R&D programme, led by STMicroelectronics, which includes CEA-LETI, several University research teams, material and equipment manufacturers, vendors and CAD intellectual property specialists, and system integrators.

The project is supported by French national, regional and local authorities as well as by the EC through the ENIAC Joint Technology Initiative (JTI). Funding for the programme is subject to approval by the EC.

Nano2017 addresses three technologies: FD-SOI for low-power, high-performance processing, next-generation imaging (sensors and image signal processors), and embedded non-volatile memories.

These technologies deliver ST’s embedded processing solutions which include microcontrollers, imaging solutions, digital consumer products, application processors and digital ASICs.
