Microprocessors and DSPs Q1 launch for ARM processor from AMD

AMD is to sample its first ARM-based processor in Q1 2014.

The ARM-based processor, based on the ARM Cortex A57 core, will be aimed at servers.

The processor is said to aim at 2x to 4x the performance of AMD’s Opteron X-Series processor with better MIPS per Watt.

The chip is expected to run at 2GHz supporting up to 128GB of DRAM.

AMD calls the processor ‘Seattle.’
